Arts Fest

Arts Fest

In 2014 the Arts & Ideas program began an annual celebration of the arts called Arts Fest every April. As the event evolved, a Fall Arts Fest was added in 2018 and 2019 to create more opportunities to engage with the student work being produced every semester.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Spring 2020 Arts Fest was cancelled, and to adapt to the changing campus landscape a new online event “Art For Our Times” was created for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021.

As we consider the possibilities for resuming in-person events and the continued development of our program, we look forward to bringing you more Arts programming in the future. Whatever form this programming takes, we are excited to continue pursuing our goals of bringing interdisciplinary artistic events to the campus and to the greater Asheville community.

Arts Fest’s Mission

Creating community through the arts:

  • Cultivate creative and critical thinking through participation and engagement with arts events and activities
  • Foster community by emphasizing resourcefulness, collaboration, and appreciation for the diverse talents and contributions of all individuals
  • Recognize the interdisciplinary nature of the arts by celebrating the creativity, vision, and ingenuity present in all the arts
  • Provide students, faculty, staff and the Asheville community with the opportunity to explore the arts at UNC Asheville
  • Reconnect UNC Asheville Alumni with the campus and celebrate their artistic achievements
  • Facilitate and promote the arts on campus by providing resources, support and publicity to interdisciplinary art projects
