Spring Arts Fest Schedule
A full day of events in and around Lipinsky Hall on Friday, April 19
This year for Arts Fest, we have focused our events in and around Lipinsky Hall, the home of our Music Department and the location of Lipinsky Auditorium.

Lipinsky Auditorium
11:00 AM-12:15 PM: Global Art Challenges – Lecture by Eva Bares of UNC Asheville’s Department of Art and Art History faculty, given for HUM 414 students but open to the public. Please arrive early, and DO NOT enter the auditorium once the lecture has started.
2:00-3:15 PM: Balinese Gamelan Performance – Warren Wilson College students will perform in this ancient music tradition.
3:30-4:15 PM: Arts & Ideas Student Presentations on the Sublime
4:15-5:00 PM: Choreography – Work in Progress by Asheville Ballet
5:30-6:30 PM: Mass Communications Film Showings – Mass Communication majors present fiction and documentary projects produced in collaboration with Arts 310 and Drama department students.
Lipinsky Lobby
Ongoing Exhibit: “This is Full of Color” Neuroscience Art Show – This is a collection of work that deals with the visual representation of the atypical sensory processing phenomenon known as synesthesia, which occurs when two or more of the senses in one’s brain cross and combine.
4:00-6:00 PM: Art Department Slides – The Art Department will project images from a selection of completed works in the Lipinsky Lobby.

12:00-1:00 PM: Music by Student Ensembles – Performances by UNC Asheville’s John Scofield Ensemble, Woodwind Quintet.
1:00-2:00 PM: Improv Jam – Improvised music by UNC Asheville students.
Ramsey Glasshouse
12:30-1:30 PM: Poetry and Prose Readings – UNC Asheville students and faculty will read from their works.
University Quad (Due to rain, these events have been relocated)
1:30-4:00 PM: Solar Prints and Pinwheels – Harness the sun and wind to make your own art! Rain Location: Ramsey Glasshouse at 1:30-4:00 PM
2:30-3:00 PM: Belly Dance Club Performance Rain Location: LIP 107
4:00-5:00 PM: Army of Mars – A three piece faculty band playing original sci-fi folk music. Rain Location: LIP 107
Zeis 2nd Floor Lobby
4:30-6:30 PM: New Media Exhibit Reception – 16th Annual New Media Student Show, a juried exhibition featuring innovative work by UNC students, opens with a reception.
Carol Belk Theatre
7:30 PM: Nothing’s Happening – A Black Mountain College Project – Ticketed performance in Belk Theatre, with tickets at drama.unca.edu.
Ongoing Exhibits:
Altered Books – Ramsey Library – Display of work from ARTS 310: Under the Covers and Between the Sheets: students examined the concept of what constitutes a “book” – then deconstructed that concept and repurposed existing books into expressive works of art.

Other Events on Campus:
At 8 PM, after Arts Fest, Asheville Campus Entertainment will be hosting a double feature for students, showing The Incredibles and The Incredibles 2 on the Quad, with an ice cream buffet between the films.
On Saturday, April 20, the Mindfulness Club and the Art Guild are hosting a Mindfulness and Arts Festival with activities and events on the Quad.
